“I am very happy to welcome you here in my office at the palace,” said a good-natured Queen Mathilde upon the arrival of journalist Eva Peeters. She immediately shows some photos that she has displayed there. “From my children”, it sounds. “They grow up very quickly. When I see these photos like this, I realize that very hard.”
Mathilde is very open when Eva asks her how she sees the role of a queen in the 21st century. “There is no script,” she laughs. “So…” In her own words, she can sometimes forget that she is a queen. “I can do that by doing small things.”
