Mundfish CEO and Game Director Robert Bagratuni said in an interview with the portal GamesRadar about how they chose the actor for the role of Major Nechaev (P-3) in Atomic Heart. As it turned out, the casting was very unusual.
We were casting the main character and of course we wanted to find someone who could not only play the role of P-3, but also convey his character. When Alex entered the room, his face was stern and preoccupied. He silently walked to the end of the room where the props were located, grabbed a mock melee weapon (and it weighs more than 9 kilograms!) And swung it several times, destroying the props and a couple of other objects nearby. Then he slung his weapon over his shoulder and turned to us with a feeling of deep satisfaction.
“We were all in shock … “What is going on?!” we thought to ourselves. But at that moment we realized that he was perfect for the role of P-3. When you play Atomic Heart, you will see what we saw.
Robert Bagratuni also said that when creating Atomic Heart, they were inspired by such great authors as Orwell, Huxley, Strugatsky and Lem, and games such as BioShock, Half-life and even Portal.
