“Criminals must be punished, no matter where they come from, without ethnicizing the criminals,” demands filmmaker and human rights activist Düzen Tekkal. She criticizes the integration debate that began after the violent incidents on New Year’s Eve. How difficult it is to deal with migration issues in Germany is shown precisely in these discussions, Tekkal continued: “And that shows that the same dynamics of division are being served again and again, by victims, persecutors and rescuers. And I always say: Folks, we have to but already be much further.”

In the “phoenix personal” show, phoenix presenter Alexander Kähler speaks to Düzen Tekkal, founder of the human rights organization HÁWAR.help about the integration debate, her commitment to the Kurdish Yazidis minority and about the protests in Iran.

“I think the most important ‘success’, if one can even say so in this context, is that the dead from Iran and the mullah regime suddenly play a role, because it’s a very bloody affair,” explains Düzen Tekkal Look at the ongoing demonstrations and protests in Iran. “So that we see the people, that we see the stories behind them, that the mullahs’ regime can no longer continue killing unhindered, and that we continue to maintain economic relations without being criticized. That these economic relations continue is scandalous enough.”
