Xbox Series X/S will soon consume less power

In recent years, Microsoft has placed more emphasis on environmental friendliness. The company was born in 2019 carbon neutral manufacturing of Xbox consolesand now a battle is being fought to save energy.

Low Power Mode will be standard for all Xbox consoles.

Microsoft

On their websites Warn the Xbox team that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles will soon use less power when you turn them off. Briefly explained, this puts consoles into low power mode instead of sleep mode when you shut them down with the controller.

Until now, sleep mode has been the standard for machines. This allows you to start your Xbox faster and remotely, for example from your phone or PC. Energy saving mode retains many of the same functions, but turns off the remote and, as the name suggests, uses much less energy.

Sleep mode uses up to 15 watts, while low-power mode consumes just 0.5 watts, writes Microsoft. It should be noted that Low Power Mode still allows the console to download game and system updates overnight.

The update is available now to Xbox Insider members and will be rolled out to all console owners in due course. Xbox One will also have an improved power saving mode. Those who prefer to have hibernate mode will be able to go to the console menu and set it as default after starting the update.
