On January 12, 2023, Reuters reported that France’s eight major union groups announced mass walkouts across the country on January 19, following the departure of Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne. France will extend the two-year retirement age to 64 by 2030, or for the next seven years, though it says the scheme won’t be enforced overnight. But the retirement age will increase by 3 months every year starting this year until the next 8 years. The retirement age law is still awaiting approval by the parliament.
