The activities of the 13th session of the Arab Theater Festival, organized by the Arab Theater Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication of Morocco, began yesterday in Casablanca.
In his speech during a ceremony on this occasion, Salem Al-Malik, director general of the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ICESCO), underlined the importance of the role of Arab theater and its capabilities in front of the world stage, for its audacity, richness and diversity.
He said, “Arab theater is the inheritor of Arab history literature, indicating its diversity in various styles, including political, social and educational, as well as children’s theater and poetic theater.”
In his speech, he expressed ISESCO’s readiness to cooperate with the Arab Theater Authority and other institutions interested in supporting the theater to enhance its presence and help overcome its challenges.
About 500 officials and artists will participate in this festival, which runs until January 16, and 12 theater groups from Arab countries will perform to compete for the festival’s grand prize.
