Naomi Osaka shared an image of an ultrasound scan via social media. The tennis star is pregnant and she’s taking a break from playing for the rest of the year.
“One thing I can’t wait is for my son to see my matches and tell someone: that’s my mother,” writes the former world number one on Twitter.
Over the weekend, Osaka withdrew its bid for the Australian Open, which starts on Sunday. However, the plan is to participate in next year’s edition.
“An Instructional Year”
“2023 will be an educational year for me and I hope to see you early next year as I will be at the Australian Open in 2024,” he writes.
The Japanese has not competed since September and writes the following about the break:
“These months that I’ve been away from the sport have really given me a new love and appreciation for the sport that I’ve dedicated my life to.”
