One must be alert, there are now “super” dengue fever mosquitoes that are immune to fogging

Shinji Kasai found that some types of mosquitoes have up to 1,000 times immunity, compared to the 100 times previously seen.

This means that the levels of insecticides normally used to kill these animals, which used to kill nearly 100% of the insect population, are now only capable of killing about 7%.

They say that a dose of poison that has ten times the strength is able to kill only 30% of mosquitoes that have super immunity.

“The levels of mosquito immunity that we found in Cambodia and Vietnam are very different,” said Kasai, who is also director of the Department of Medical Entomology, Japan National Institute of Infectious Diseases.

He said new methods of elimination or stronger poisons need to be developed, but authorities also need to think about other methods to protect people, such as vaccines.
