Did the 27-year-old accused of manslaughter have sex with his victim? That assumption grew louder Tuesday during the district court hearing. The mentally ill defendant’s desire to drink blood was also a problem.
Fulda – The young man had stabbed an acquaintance in early May last year at his home on Weserstrasse in Fulda. As the defendant had already testified during an earlier day of the trial, “evil and diabolical voices” ordered him to do the deed. Apparently he has been ill since he was a child, among other things he has been treated several times for schizophrenia. But he stopped taking his meds again and again, with serious consequences.

His mental disorder also became evident on Tuesday when Presiding Judge Josef Richter read a story of chats the defendant had with a friend who is also mentally ill. In it, the 27-year-old revealed that without medication not only did he have an aggression problem, but that he then had a craving for blood and became “a vampire.”
Once, as he said in a cell phone message to his friend, after a stab wound, he “licked the blood off a knife blade.” Furthermore, she has repeatedly entertained “homicidal thoughts”. The day before the crime, the friend advised the defendant to take his pills again and wrote: “Do nothing wrong.” A police officer who questioned the friend and evaluated the chat history reported on Tuesday.
The victim’s cell phone was also scanned. As reported by prosecutor Andreas Hellmich, it emerged that the 45-year-old frequented a large number of “gay sites” on the Internet: content that targeted homosexual men. Hellmich pointed this out to the victim’s ex-girlfriend on Tuesday, but she knew nothing of a sexual relationship between the two men. But he stressed to the court that her ex-boyfriend and the defendant were at least temporarily “friendly” — and it appeared, from his perspective, that the defendant was also flirting with her boyfriend.
The same witness had broken off the relationship with the 45-year-old three months before her death. She described her former partner as a bitter, narcissistic person who, while not violent towards her, was “but nonetheless aggressive to no end.” “When I noticed he was angry, I ran away.” She was psychologically dependent on him, but then she managed to separate from her partner.

Even after the relationship ended, the two continued to be in contact. The 45-year-old told her about a cell phone message she had received from the defendant. Even though she couldn’t remember the exact words anymore: “But it was something like, ‘Whoever lies on the street eats street dirt.'” She recommended her ex go to the police because she liked it happening a threat.
When asked by the prosecutor if she knew anything about her ex-partner’s drug dealings, she explained: “I was aware that there was something there. But I had nothing to do with it.” She also couldn’t explain the fact that defender Egon Schütz reported that “a large sum of money” was found on him after his death. He thought he had lived on unemployment benefits.
Another witness was a police officer who was present when the defendant was arrested. His mood had fluctuated when he was arrested: first calm, then again unexpectedly very excited, the officer explained. “He said others made fun of him and that one of them has now received his sentence.” However, the defendant’s statements were inconsistent. From moment to moment he was suddenly talking about rap music.
The defendant’s mother, also summoned as a witness on Tuesday, exercised her right to refuse to testify, as did the father before him.
