Bella Hadid took part in a pro-Palestinian rally in New York calling for the destruction of the Jewish state
Prominent Jewish-American leader Malcolm Hoenlein has criticized French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton for casting Bella Hadid in its new campaign. Bella Hadid, who has previously expressed anti-Semitic and anti-Israel views on social media, will become the face of the brand’s new collaboration with acclaimed Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
“It is imperative that influential people are held accountable for their actions and words,” Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice president of the Conference of Presidents of America’s leading Jewish organizations, told the German newspaper. Liora Rez, executive director of StopAntisemitism.org, also spoke to the international weekly to say she was saddened by Louis Vuitton’s decision to hire an ‘ardent anti-Semite’ like Bella to be the face of the brand’s cooperation.
In 2021, during clashes between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip, Bella Hadid took part in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in New York City calling for the destruction of the Jewish state.
She and her sister Gigi, who shares similar views, had said Palestinians “are experiencing the same thing” as war victims in Ukraine. However, the model has quietly removed all of her previous Instagram posts in which she criticized Israel, without providing an explanation, though the deletions may be related to her relationship since July 2020 with creative director Mark Kalman of Jewish descent.
