Holidays in the Franconia wine region (which includes Würzburg, Kitzingen, Main-Spessart and Schweinfurt) are worth it: Last year (January to October 2022) a good 1.05 million people were of the opinion. On average, they stayed in the region for nearly two days.
According to the Franconian Tourist Association, Würzburg is particularly popular with the residence, but also with the surrounding area with numerous (wine) hiking trails, wineries, bike tours, museums and the beautiful landscape along the Main.
While the region has not fully recovered to its pre-pandemic level, it is on track. The Franconian wine country recorded around 2 million overnight stays (January-October) in 2022, in the same period in 2019 it was 2.2 million.
The months with the highest number of overnight stays in the region were July-September, and city tourism is also increasing again.
