The heat decimates the ski races. Not even the famous convention in Ga-Pa

In Ga-Pa, a traditional downhill race was to be held on January 28, and a giant slalom was scheduled for the next day. The FIS is now looking for alternative dates at another venue. In early January, the men’s slalom took place on the local slopes, but with the warmer weather, the conditions on the artificially snowed course deteriorated rapidly.

Due to unfavorable weather or lack of snow, the organizers have already had to cancel some races in the current SP season. Among other things, the descents on the new track in Zermatt and Cervinia could not be disputed, most recently the second women’s slalom in Zagreb was canceled last week.

Association members are not allowed to compete in Klingenthal

The day after the cancellation of the Nordic Combined World Cup races in Chaux-Neuve, the Klingenthal program was also canceled from today’s calendar due to bad snow conditions. Team members were due to complete two races in Germany this weekend, but the big heat associated with the rain made it impossible for the organizers to prepare the tracks at the last minute.

The FIS International Ski Federation is now evaluating whether the canceled January races can be at least partially replaced during the season. Currently, the closest fight for points awaits men and women in Seefeld, Austria due to race from 26 to 29 January.
