Sasho comes from the Roma district of Kuklen. She is 17 years old and speaks 5 languages (Bulgarian, Roma, English, Turkish and German) and taught herself to play the piano from videos on the Internet. He dreams of becoming a pilot, he had his father study as a paramedic and is of Roma origin. But not the last one, according to him, makes it special.
“There are some stereotypes about Roma – when they hear that they are Roma, it means they are not educated, that they are stupid – not with me, because it has never happened to me. To some extent, it is our fault. Most of us do not thinks education is important,” said Sasho Dimitrov Bulgaria on the air.
When the student surpasses his teacher, or in this case, when the child encourages his father to learn, the music becomes different.
Sasho is also a self-taught pianist. Not being able to read sheet music, he managed to learn to play the piano. Even his parents support his passion by buying him a piano.
“They bought me this expensive piano, I don’t play to make money,” Sasho said.
Sasho has two sisters: 15-year-old Zhivka and 4-month-old Alicia. When he was in first grade, his father and mother went to Germany with him and his sister. Sasho spent 5 years in Duisburg.
According to Sasho’s family, the Roma themselves are responsible for the stereotypes imposed in society.
“We are proud of who we are, because not all Roma are the same, we have achieved a lot,” share his mother and sister.
Sasho doesn’t seek attention, he is happy to be an example for someone, as he was for his father. And dreams. From Kuklen’s school – for long flights to distant destinations – not as a tourist, but as a pilot.
