Job offers grow by 6% in Galicia in 2022

Job vacancies grew by 6% in Galicia in 2022, at the expense of a 4% decline in the Spanish average, according to Info job. The real figure is higher, as offers from other official platforms or organizations are not included.

Thus, Galicia ended the year with a total of 9,426 vacancies, which is 541 more than the 8,825 with which it closed in 2021. However, between December and November there was a drop of about a thousand.

Job offers registered through the InfoJobs platform decreased by 4% year-on-year in December 2022 in Spain, with 187,281 positions available, which also means a 17% decrease compared to the month of November, as reported by the job portal Employment in a statement.

This slowdown in employment contrasts with the optimism aroused by data from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE). The agency revealed in December that it finished the year with an increase in the number of Social Security enrollees and a drop in the unemployment rate of 8.6% year over year.

The category that saw the largest increase in job vacancies in the country in December was Purchasing, Logistics and Warehousing, with a 45% increase from November and more than 38,100 vacancies. It coincides with the Christmas campaign.

Marketing & Communications (with over 2,700 vacancies) and Education & Training (with 4,200) were the next fastest growing sectors in vacancies, as they increased by 13% and 3% respectively.

Conversely, open positions in customer service register a monthly decline of 41%, with 18,300 vacancies. In the activities related to the commercial and sales sector and professions, arts and crafts, job offers have been reduced by 30%.

Despite this, in December 2022, purchasing, logistics and warehouse (20.4%), commercial and sales sector (14.2%) and customer service (9.8%) concentrated 44.4% of the total vacancies.

The position of delivery vehicle driver was the most in demand in the last month of the year, with 32,843 vacancies, followed by telemarketer occupations, with 18,590 vacancies, and sales representative, with 8,771.

40% of the positions offered in InfoJobs in December 2022, over 75,000, were permanent contracts, while fixed-term contracts accumulated 21.4% (40,085).

By type of shift, full-time vacancies represent more than half of the total positions offered, compared to 15.4% in which part-time was offered.

By location, 56.5% of the positions offered through InfoJobs in December were required for the Community of Madrid, which had 48,165 vacancies. Catalonia (38,319) and Andalusia (19,316) were the next communities with the highest number of jobs available.
