Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto And Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan qualify for the top 16 Malaysian Open 2023. The extra fight came between the two pairs.
In their first round match of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Kumpur on Tuesday (10/1/2023), Fajar/Rian had to sweat a lot before defeating Christo Popov/Toma Junior Popov (France).
Fajar/Rian won after going through a rubber play battle against duo Popov. Fajri won with a score of 19-21, 21-16, 21-15.
Fajar admits playing the game wasn’t easy. Also, in that game he was hit three times with serve fouls because he was deemed to have exceeded the 115cm height limit.
The impact of this court decision, its concentration was disrupted. Three times his serve also hit the net after that.
“My concentration gets disturbed. So I think about it and make my game scattered. Not to mention the opponent is also playing well,” said Fajar.
The same thing happened to Hendra/Ahsan who had to fight for three matches before finally defeating He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong from China. Ahsan/Hendra won with a score of 19-21, 21-8, 21-13.
