Thai National managed to beat Malaysia 3-0 in the 2022 AFF Cup semi-final second leg at Thammasat Stadium, Pathum Thani on Tuesday (10/1).

With this victory, Thailand won 3-1 on aggregate over Malaysia in a duel in the semi-finals of the 2022 AFF Cup.

War Elephant State Team managed to excel in the 19th minute through Teerasil Dangda’s goal. Dangda managed to score with a header after following in Theeraton Bunmatan’s cross from the left.

In the 28th minute, the coaches of the two teams namely Kim Pan Gon and Alexandre Polking were given a yellow card by referee Adham Makhadmeh from Jordan. Both received yellow cards for excessive protest.

Meanwhile, Malaysia got their first best chance in the 36th minute with Darren Lok’s header after taking advantage of Muhammad Fazly Bin Mazlan’s cross. Unfortunately, Lok’s header was caught by Thailand goalkeeper Kampon Phatomakkakul.

No further goals were created until the end of the first half of the match. Thailand won 1-0 over Malaysia in the first round and earned a temporary 1-1 aggregate score after Malaya Tiger Team won 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (7/1).

Thailand still dominated the match in the second half. In the 55th minute, Bordin Phala’s strike from inside Malaysia’s penalty area after connecting from Ekanit Panya’s cross managed to put Thailand up 2–0.

In the 60th minute, Malaysia threatened Thailand’s goal with Faisal Halim’s hard shot from outside the box. But his shot was still just over Thailand’s crossbar.

Thailand managed to extend the lead to 3-0 thanks to Adisak Kraisorn’s goal. Kraisorn managed to continue his kick which hit the crossbar and turned into a goal against Malaysia.

Adisak Kraison has a chance to score in the 80th minute. However, Adisak’s solo dribbling efforts hit an impasse after there were no other Thai players in the Malaysian defence.

Even though they already led 3-0, Thailand also did not ease their attacks. In the 87th minute Peeradol Chamrasamee opened fire but was caught by goalkeeper Syihan Hazmi.

Peeradol again created danger for Malaysia in the 90th minute after placing a shot with his right foot only slightly wide to the left side of the visitors’ goal.

With no further goals in their remaining matches, Thailand won 3-0 over Malaysia. The win meant Thailand got rid of Malaysia on a 3-1 aggregate.

This sweet result made Thailand qualify for the 2022 AFF Cup Final and meet Vietnam. The first leg of the final will be played on Friday (13/1) at home against Vietnam. While on Monday (16/1) the return final will be played.
