The Kuwait national team scored a late goal through Ahmed Al-Dhafiri to stun the Emirates to win 1-0 at Al-Minaa Stadium in the second round of the Gulf Cup soccer championship on Tuesday.
This victory lifted Kuwait’s tally to three points, who occupy third place in Group Two, behind Qatar and Bahrain, on goal difference, while the UAE bowed out of the tournament after failing to score points after two rounds, after losing to Bahrain in the first match.
Kuwaiti joy came in the 93rd minute as Ahmed Al-Dhafiri executed a direct free kick that tricked Khaled Issa to score the only goal of the game.
The UAE will play the next round against Qatar, while Kuwait will play Bahrain.
