Riyadh: Saudi club Al Nasser are set to bring Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets to the squad after Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. There have been reports that Ronaldo has also expressed his desire for midfielder Al Nasril, who is also a former Spanish captain, to join him. The player was invited to Al Nasr’s squad after rumors that Busquets, who brought great successes to Barcelona, is about to leave the club.
Ronaldo left Manchester United during the World Cup in Qatar and joined Saudi club Al Nasr. Al Nasr owned the star for two and a half years with an annual income of US$200 million (approximately Rs. 1950 crore) including advertising revenue. Ronaldo has left Manchester United after much controversy. The player has left United after making serious allegations against the club and the managers.
At the same time, there were also reports that Al-Nasr excluded Cameroon player Vincent Abubakar to include Ronaldo in the squad. Under Saudi League rules, a club can register up to eight foreign players. The club will have to sack one of its existing foreign players if Ronaldo is to be included in the squad. Reports say Abubakar’s contract has been terminated because of this.
