In a statement after the meeting, the South Coast of Lebanon Fishermen’s Union called on relevant ministries to speed up the resolution of the southern fishermen’s problem, which has been chronic for years, without concrete measures, including speeding up the prevention of ‘use of incorrect and illegal means of fishing along the south coast and in the eyes of those concerned The use of (compressors) and scuba tanks indiscriminately and without legal controls, which harms all fishermen.
And he launched an appeal “to those concerned to stop importing smuggled and legally prohibited 12 and 13 mm nets, which destroy small fish and threaten the livelihoods of fishermen in the following months”.
And he stressed that “the fishermen and their families are a priority in these difficult circumstances, and he will not hesitate to defend their lost rights, including health insurance and other just requests”.
