Filippo Bernardini eventually pleaded guilty to impersonating and stealing unpublished manuscripts by famous writers such as Margaret Atwood and Evan McEwan.
He confessed to stealing more than a thousand unpublished manuscripts. Bernardini will be sentenced on April 5th. The scam was carried out using false e-mail addresses of well-known publishing houses. He can receive up to 20 years in prison. Since 2016 he has started stealing unpublished manuscripts through identity theft.
