The Iraqi national team beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 on Monday in the second round of the first round of the Gulf Football Championship, being held in Basra, Iraq.
The Iraqi side advanced through Ibrahim Baish in the 30th minute, before Aso Rustam added the second goal in the 88th minute.
The Iraqi side lifted their tally to four points at the top of the group, on goal difference over the second-placed Omani side.
On the other hand, the balance of the Saudi team in third place froze by three points, while the Yemeni team was at the bottom of the group standings with no points balance.
The Iraqi national team will meet their Yemeni counterpart next Thursday, while the Saudi national team will face the Omani national team on the same day in the third round of the first group.
