Kylian Mbappé responded on Twitter to the statements by Noël Le Graët, president of the French Football Federation, about Zinedine Zidane. The PSG striker believes La Gaët should speak of Zidane with more respect.

Last week, the French federation announced that it would extend the contract of national team coach Didier Deschamps until 2026. After the World Cup final defeat in Qatar against Argentina, there were doubts in the media and Zidane was suggested as possible substitute.

Gaët replied: she said she never saw an option in Zidane. “Zinedine Zidane, I wouldn’t even record it. What should I tell him? ‘Hello sir, don’t be fooled. Look further, because I just signed a contract with Didier’?”

The future of Zidane, who left Real Madrid in 2021, has been speculated for some time. According to ESPN, he recently accepted an offer from the American Federation to pay the a conversation having come to replace Gregg Berhalter as national coach, they declined.

Gaët said she never doubted Deschamps’ future as national coach. “Zidane has to do what he wants, it’s none of my business. I’ve never met him and we never thought about parting ways with Deschamps. Zidane can go where he wants, to a big club. I see a national team arriving less quickly” .

Mbappé responded to La Gaët’s statements with a critical tweet. “Zidane is France. That’s not how we treat legends like him.”
