The transport vessel MV ‘Glory’ ran aground near the town of El Qantara which is located along the Suez Canal in Egypt.
This was stated by the freight forwarder Leth Agencies in a message on Twitter on Monday morning.
The incident occurred when the vessel was due to join a convoy heading south across the channel.
The Suez Canal authority says traffic was unaffected after the cargo ship ran aground, Reuters reported.
Tugs are in place to attempt to save the vessel.
Channel blocked for a week
The Suez Canal runs between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea and is an important link for shipping and world trade.
In the spring of 2021 it caused major problems and delays the container ship ran aground and blocked the channel for a week.
