Brazilian authorities are investigating the case of a woman who claimed to have it breast cancer to request multiple donations and obtain an amount exceeding 20,000 Brazilian reais (more than 73,000 Mexican pesos).

According to the complainants, they had given Camilla a large sum of money for exams and for the purchase of medicines, but after a while they began to doubt whether she was really ill. The authorities launched an investigation against the young woman and determined that she was able to raise more than 20,000 reais in donations. This is taking into account only the people who reported it.
“We have already been able to identify at least five campaigns and lotteries (to request money for treatment), and these amounts were transferred directly to the perpetrator’s account,” said the police station chief, quoted by The globe.
In the investigation, the court found that Camilla she was never treated by the hospital. The Araújo Jorge center informed the police that the 27-year-old woman was not and had not been a patient and that, on the contrary, she constantly went to the chemotherapy area without authorization. When called to testify, Camilla said she underwent seven chemotherapy sessions at the said health center but that the hospital lost her documents and records in October. For this reason, she said, her medical records could not be found at the scene.
“He claims that all the treatment was done at Araújo Jorge Hospital. So that would be the only place we should look for an exam. In the unit there is no trace, there is no history of that there. The same hospital has denounced various situations in which it was caught within the institution, acting with irregular conduct”, said the commissioner.
According to authorities, they also asked the woman for medical proof of her illness, but she was unable to provide any in the middle of the judicial process and even said she did not have a report proving her diagnosis.
