Switzerland wins the Yellow Cup.
The starting position before the match against the neighbors was clear: Switzerland must win against the Austrians, who have previously won twice, to win the tournament. A draw would not have been enough to win due to 29:29 against Cape Verde on Saturday.
Lo and behold: after a gap in the meantime, Küttel gave Switzerland the lead for the first time in the 34th minute with 17:16. About seven minutes before the end, Michael Suter’s team leads by 28:25.
Austria almost equals
However, Switzerland must tremble to the end, because the Austrians, with the score of 28:29, regain possession eight seconds before the final siren and launch one last attack in this match. It was unsuccessful, but there was a free throw for Austria as 60 minutes expired. Since it lands near the goal, Switzerland celebrates its eighth tournament success at the Yellow Cup.
Builder Lenny Rubin, who scored six of his eight goals in the second half and missed just once in the second half, played a big part in the success. (SDA)
