Chelsea Handler wants to run ‘The Daily Show’ permanently.
The 47-year-old comedian left her late night talk show ‘Chelsea Lately’ in 2014 but is set to return to the screens as one of ‘The Daily Show’ guest hosts following Trevor Noah’s departure and figures she will be a good option for this long term role.
‘If it fits right, then it fits right. I’m definitely open to the possibility,” she said.
The former ‘Chelsea Does’ star went on to explain that her passion for late night television was rekindled when she was a guest on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ last June, shortly after the repeal of the law that deprived millions of women in the United States of the right to have abortions safely and legally, and called for more women to be at the forefront of the talk show genre.
‘I just realized, -Oh, this is what I love to do-, -I love being in a writer’s room. I like to comment and criticize people. And soon after Roe v. Wade, I set it up. It’s definitely in my wheelhouse and I’m good and I like it and I’m willing to work, so that’s the most important thing. When you’re in the mood to do something, that’s when you really bring out the best stuff. We need a woman on late night television. It doesn’t even have to be the middle of the night, we just need a woman. Men do not represent us. We represent ourselves!” concluded the famed comedian to E! News.
