Gillingham faced the team Premier League, Leicester City, in the third round of the 2022/2023 FA Cup. The duel took place at Priestfield Stadium, Saturday (7/1/2023) night WIB.
Elkan Baggott was not included in Gillingham’s squad. The Indonesian international star is reportedly injured and has missed the last two games of League Two.
Gillingham managed to hold off Leicester’s attack in the first half. The two sides held a goalless draw until half-time.
Leicester broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. Kelechi Iheanacho burst into the Gillingham goal after receiving Kasey McAteer’s cross that hit Jamie Vardy.
The visitors managed to keep the lead until the end of the second half. Game over for Leicester’s 1-0 victory.
This result saw Leicester qualify for the fourth round of the FA Cup. Gillingham need to be eliminated and conclude their adventure in the competition.
