Slavi Trifonov vs Lena Borisslavova: a spectacular fall

For many years, Slavi Trifonov has claimed that he is at war with the yellow-brown media. After the vulgar and sexist attack on Lena Borisslavova, he finally became their musical accompaniment. Hasn’t he always been?

“My dear Nedyalka, you love me a little. Ah, pity, pity… Slavi Trifonov.” Remember those billboards? In 2016 Trifonov paid for them to be hung in key locations in Sofia. This was his response to posts on a site that calls itself a “news agency.”

According to the relevant publications, Trifonov was gay. The offended showman then decided to humiliate the editor-in-chief of this same “agency” by speaking to him in… the female gender. In the world of Slavi, of course, there is nothing more humiliating than this.

Assaults, sexist attempts

Recalling these and other episodes from the ITN leader’s career, it will hardly surprise us that, in yet another display of helplessness brought on by his spectacularly unsuccessful transition to and exit from politics, he has decided to resort to a vile sexist attack on the former spokesperson of the Cabinet “Petkov” Lena Borisslavova. And in it, without any scruples, to quote insinuations, personal attacks and blatant slander from the same cesspool of which he himself has been a victim over the years.

Let’s go back to the discussions in 2016. One side has reached unsuspected moral lows with its slanders and insults against the showman. And he answered with the words: “I will find you. I will find you. And I will stretch you … for love.” He therefore decided to insert the plot into a Balkan version of Mario Puzo’s novel by sending him 20 red carnations. However, there were no particular cultural differences in the behavior and language of the protagonist and the antagonist in this novel.

The genesis of Slavi Trifonov’s short but spectacularly unsuccessful political career also has a similar scenario. Former friends Boyko Borisov and Slavi Trifonov quarreled, and then the latter began to become an increasingly fierce critic of the former and to test the waters for a political project.

Although Trifonov won and gained support by instrumentalizing “patriotism” and “Bulgaria” through expensive and well-composed productions, and Borisov still plays the fine line of “populism”, the result is the same: both made people believe in one thing: although they are not qualified, I am one of them and can save them. They also made them forget questionable episodes from their past.

Public and political fall

Slavi Trifonov failed three parliaments and led the country to a dead end. Furthermore, he managed to lose the support of more than 550,000 people in a record year and a half: of the 657,000 votes he received in the July 2021 election, only 96,000 remained in November 2022. His public and political downfall is spectacular and he will surely go down textbooks.

So he apparently has no choice but to vent his bitterness and malice against a successful, intelligent and beautiful young woman in something he supposedly calls a song. This time, however, the arrangement and production are so bad that they fail to hide an inch of Trifonov’s true nature.

And for us, we have to learn a lesson from this collapse: the light bulb has a tail. We have seen how Slavi is, despite all his attempts to convince us of how “white” his soul is.
