URETERP – Announced the program of the 22nd edition of Oerrock. More than thirty bands and artists will entertain festival-goers with Di-rect, Davina Michelle and Goldband as the most striking names on Ascension Day. UB40 is Thursday’s first major foreign act.
With Di-Rect and Davina Michelle, Oerrock brings two big names to opening day. The Goldband group from The Hague is currently very popular among young music lovers. The organization is also delighted with the first major international act, the reggae and pop formation UB40. UB40, known for hits like ‘Red, Red Wine and ‘I got You Babe’ comes to Ureterp with original vocalist Ali Campbell.
Also on Ascension Day will be on stage Son Mieux, known for their huge hit Multicolor, Nielson, Navarone, The Vices, Flemming, The Paceshifters and Sloper. The performance of Sloper, the band with drummers Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring) and Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger), promises to be special, according to festival president Sietze Boonstra. The evening ends with an old acquaintance, the party band The Dirty Daddies.
The second day, Friday 19 May, traditionally begins with performances by the very young. The little ones are presented with performances by KIDS DJ and CH!PZ. Throughout the rest of the evening, a diverse array of music will play with performances by: Jick Munro, Snelle, Drukwerk, Ramkot, Miss Montreal, HillBilly Moonshiners, Blazuh and Chef’Special. “An outstanding program,” thinks Jorryt Taekema.
The closing evening on Saturday is reserved as usual for tribute bands. There are “makeovers” by Status Quo, Elvis, The Police, Taylor Swift, Bryan Adams, Mumford & Sons, André Hazes, Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters. An excellent offer, thinks Boonstra, who expects Martijn Fischer as Hazes to be sure to please young and old alike.
As major Dutch bands such as Golden Earring, Kensington, De Dijk and Doe Maar stopped, the board had to do more programming conundrums.
