Calgary decided its triumph already in the first period, which it won 3:1. Goalkeeper Jacob Markström contributed 24 successful saves to the victory, Zach Parise was the only one to beat him. The Flames have won their third of their last four games and are fourth in the Pacific Division and seventh in the Western Conference.

“We’re moving up the table. We’re fighting and doing everything we can to get up. We have to win above all at home.” pointed out winger Blake Coleman, who made it 3-0 for Calgary early in the 6th minute. Ružička played 13:55 minutes as a member of the fourth attack of the “flames” with an extra point and a point. He didn’t score in the fifth game of the series, which happened for the first time in the NHL.

The Islanders are not well, they have lost the third game of the last four. The “Islanders” were missing offensive leader Matt Barzal, attended pre-game warmups, but ultimately missed out with a lower body injury. “We did some good things, but we didn’t get the result we wanted. We need to reset and prepare well for the imminent home stretch,” noted home forward Josh Bailey.

Černak started in Tampa’s second defensive lineup but didn’t stop Winnipeg’s fourth straight win. The Lightning have lost their second straight game and are in 7th place in the East, right behind the Capitals. Pierre-Luc Dubois had two goals for the Jets, Josh Morrissey had three and Mark Scheifele had two assists. The deadlock was broken in the third period on a 5-on-3 power play by Kyle Connor, who hit an unprepared shot from the right rim.

It was already his 41st winning goal in his professional league career, and he became the organization’s record holder in this direction when he overtook Iľja Kovaľčuk. He scored 40 game-winning goals while still playing for the Atlanta Thrashers, the predecessor of the current Jets.

“It’s a tough league. Everyone wants to win, all the teams are competitive and there are a lot of close games like this one.” said Connor, who also had an assist in the game. Anthony Cirelli’s goal and assist didn’t help Tampa either.

The guests played without Swedish defender Victor Hedman, who was at the birth of his wife, together they were expecting the birth of their third child. The Jets used both two-player power plays, playing a total of six power plays.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper was angered by the high number of ejections amid his allegations: “Total lack of discipline. It was a shame what we did. How many times in a season do you power play an opponent 5 on 3? You could probably count it on the fingers of one hand. And we gave it to them for two minutes and a half in one game. Unacceptable.” Černak played 22:03 minutes and blocked an opponent’s shot.

Nashville won 3:2 on Washington ice, Ryan McDonagh scored the winning goal in the 57th minute. It was the first goal for the experienced defender in a Predators jersey. McDonagh, who joined the team in a trade from Tampa before the season, went on the road offense with less than four minutes left in the third period and finished the play with a backhand bluff after a pass from Ryan Johansen.

“I think everyone was a bit surprised. Me too. Obviously, as a defender, you don’t get breaks often. I’m happy that I was able to help the lads find a way to win.” McDonagh told nhl.com.

Forward Jakov Trenin contributed a goal and an assist to their third consecutive triumph. The Capitals ended a nine game point streak. Fehérváry started in the home team’s third defensive pair, during 16:40 minutes on the ice he sent two shots on goal, gave up four points and blocked six opposing shots, the most among Washington players.

Thanks to two power play goals by Aaron Ekblad, Florida triumphed in Detroit 3:2 and achieved its second consecutive victory. Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov switched to both. In a battle between two teams from the bottom of the Western Conference table, Chicago beat Arizona 2-0 to end a five-game losing streak.

The “Hawks” managed it, even if the injured Patrick Kane was missing. Goaltender Alex Stalock blocked all 22 shots by the visitors and collected his first clean sheet in a Blackhawks jersey. Overall, it was his 10th anniversary shutout in the NHL, the first since February 28, 2020. His counterpart Connor Ingram gave up just one of 31 hits, the Coyotes suffering their fourth straight loss.

Anaheim lost 0:2, 2:3 and 3:4 in the duel between the two California teams with San Jose, but managed to turn the score around and won 5:4 thanks to John Klingberg’s goal in the 2nd minute of extra time. The Swedish defender also scored an assist in regular time. However, the Ducks’ triumph was led primarily by 19-year-old center Mason McTavish. The rookie in the league collected two goals and two assists.

“It was nice to see how he scored today. We gave him more space because he has the trust of us coaches and his team-mates.” “Ducks” head coach Dallas Eakins commented on the talented youngster. Tim Meier’s two goals were not enough for the Sharks, the most productive defender in the competition, Erik Karlsson, scored an assist in the 14th game of the series.
