Lenovo introduced the ThinkPhone, a ThinkPad-style smartphone from Motorola aimed at the business segment

Lenovo presented the first smartphone of the ThinkPhone family to the general public. The device was created in cooperation with Motorola and is positioned as a companion to ThinkPad laptops in the business segment. Retail sales of new items will begin later this year.

The ThinkPhone features a 6.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. HDR10+ video playback is supported. The display is protected from mechanical damage by Gorilla Glass Victus.

The body of the device is made in accordance with international standards IP68 and MIL-STD-810H. This means that the smartphone is not afraid of falling from a height of up to 1.25 meters and submerging in water to a depth of 1.5 m for 30 minutes. There is a punch hole at the top of the display which houses a 32 megapixel front facing camera with autofocus support.

The main camera is placed in a rectangular block and is located on the back of the case. It consists of a 50-megapixel sensor that combines four pixels into one to produce 2.0 µm pixels, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The hardware basis of the novelty was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 eight-core microprocessor (one Cortex-X2 core with a frequency of 3.0 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores with a frequency of 2.5 GHz and four Cortex- A510 with a frequency of 1.8 GHz). The configuration is completed by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and a 128, 256 or 512 GB drive. Standalone operation is provided by a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh with support for wired charging up to 68W and wireless charging up to 15W.

The ThinkPhone will come with Microsoft 365, Outlook and Teams apps pre-installed. The ability to synchronize with ThinkPad laptops over Wi-Fi is supported, so that the user can use the shared clipboard to move files between devices.

Orientation to the corporate segment is underlined by the presence of a number of safety features. A separate Moto KeySafe processor allows PINs, passwords, cryptographic keys and other sensitive data to be stored in a tamper-proof environment. Implemented support for Moto OEMConfig and Moto Device Manager, which will allow corporate IT administrators to remotely configure user devices. The Motorola Ready For feature is supported, which allows you to turn your smartphone into a desktop computer by connecting a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The price of the ThinkPhone has not been announced. Retail sales of the smartphone are expected to start in the coming months, but we can hardly expect it to appear in regular stores.
