Gran Turismo 7 and Beat Saber confirmed for PlayStation VR2

Just over a month after the launch of PlayStation VR2, Sony has revealed several games that will be available on the platform. During this week’s CES show, the Japanese company confirmed that both Gran Turismo 7 and Beat Saber will be recreated in virtual reality.

The VR version of Gran Turismo 7 will launch on the same day as PlayStation VR2, i.e. February 22nd. This comes as a free update for those who already own the original version of the racing game.

Beat Saber joining the pack was good news for many, but it’s unclear when the game will enter PlayStation VR2. All Sony and developer Beat Games Studio have revealed is that more information will be shared in due course, but by all accounts it won’t be ready for the goggles to launch.

Sony is tempting with 30 games to launch at the same time or right after the PlayStation VR2. Exactly what will happen when, Sony is still holding onto its chest. What we do know is that Horizon Call of the Mountain, a spin-off of Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series, will be available on release day.

Notable update

PlayStation VR2 is a significant step forward from its predecessor. Among other things, the newcomer boasts an OLED screen, support for 4K HDR, up to 120 images per second and a viewing angle of 110 degrees.

Up front are four cameras that track your movements, and the new Sense controllers have adaptive triggers similar to the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller.

A monkey is that the headset is not compatible with games from the previous PlayStation VR headset. The reason must be that the company wants to focus on the future instead of looking back.
