Umberto Giordano’s verismo opera Fedora is set in environments as diverse as a palace in St. Petersburg, a fashionable Parisian drawing room and a picturesque villa in the Swiss Alps. It is a melodrama full of captivating melodies, breathtaking arias and explosive ensembles. Soprano star Sonya Yoncheva plays Russian princess Fedora, who falls in love with her boyfriend’s killer. In the role of the murderer, the crowd favorite Piotr Beczala sings one of the most popular tenor arias with “Amor ti forbiden”. A production by David McVicar, sung in Italian (with German subtitles). Marco Armiliato directs.
