Sony and Honda, which formed a joint company to develop and produce electric cars last year, unveiled the new brand, called Afeela, at the Consumer Electronics Show, biziday.ro reported, citing Reuters.
At CES, the new company’s CEO unveiled the prototype, which looks like a midsize sedan. The car will be built at one of Honda’s plants, and while not many details are known about the new electric vehicle, it will be available to order in 2025. The first deliveries of the car won’t occur until 2026 in North America.
According to the executive, the car will be equipped with Honda’s safety and driver assistance systems, while Sony will equip the car with interactive and entertainment features. Above the front bumper of the car will be a narrow external screen, called a “media bar”, which will allow the vehicle to display information and interact with people outside. In addition, the car will be equipped with 45 cameras and sensors, both internal and external, some of which could be used to detect the driver’s condition
The partnership could help Honda accelerate its transition to electric vehicles, which has been a slow process until now, it reports bizday.ro
