The family of an American policeman who died after the Capitol storming holds former President Trump partly responsible for his death. Exactly two years after the violent assault on Congress, he and two rioters are indicted for manslaughter.
Brian Sicknick, 42, fell ill during the storming of the Capitol and died a day later. It was initially reported that he had succumbed to injuries sustained by protesters, but it was later revealed that they were of natural causes.
However, the doctors concluded that the violence “probably played a role” in the development of the stroke that killed him.
“Logical Consequence”
Relatives hold Trump responsible for rousing the crowd that day and proposing to seek redress from Congress, where his opponent Biden’s electoral victory was ratifying at the time.
“Officer Sicknick’s violence, injuries and death were a logical and foreseeable consequence of Defendant Trump’s words and conduct,” the family said in their lawsuit. In a civil suit, they demand $10 million from the president.
Trump has not yet responded to the allegations. Last month, a congressional committee investigating the attack already concluded that Trump also faces criminal charges must be prosecuted for your comments. The US Justice Department is still investigating whether that recommendation will be adopted.
