FACEBOOK has been accused of blocking a satirical ad about Joe Biden in a free speech fight.
The social media giant told the bosses of The Spectator magazine that an image of the US president from this week’s edition has been banned.
The cover featured the headline Six More Years but showed Mr. Biden holding only five fingers.
Publisher Fraser Nelson revealed that he had asked the company to reconsider, but the request was denied.
He said: “It seems that satire aimed at Biden was rejected by Facebook (or its bots) but when we mocked Trump, Boris, Truss, it was all good.”
Conservative MP David Jones said last night: ‘Facebook really should understand that free speech sometimes means making fun of politicians.
“None are beyond that and they shouldn’t be that valuable.”
A Facebook spokesperson said last night: “Anyone who wants to post a politically oriented ad must be given permission.
“If the viewer resubmits this ad from an authorized Page admin, the ad will be approved.”
