New to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is a new screen with an always-on mode that can show the time and date, notifications, and a dark background if you like.
What many are probably wondering is how much impact this feature has on the battery life of the phone, and so does the Youtube channel Phonebuff now tested. In one video, the channel shows the three phones side by side, being tested using a robotic arm and touch screen pen so that the test runs exactly the same.
The results can be surprising. After 8 hours, the phone has 100% battery with screen completely off, 98% with screen on with no wallpaper, and 97% with wallpaper.
After 24 hours, the phone still had 100% battery with the screen completely off, 84% with the screen on with no wallpaper, and 80% with the wallpaper on. For regular users who have apps running in the background, it’s not realistic to have 100% battery after a full day, but the test still gives an idea of the impact of the active screen.
Phonebuff also tested the iPhone 14 Pro against the Galaxy S22 and both had 84% battery left after 24 hours.
