The chief justice, Ahmad Suhel, admitted that he was surprised by the former head of the division Propam Polri Freddy Sambo the former Karo Paminal Propam Polri did not ask Hendra Kurniawan destroy the CCTV camera showing Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat still alive. The judge asked Sambo why.
This happened when Sambo was a witness for ex accused Karo Paminal Propam Polri Hendra Kurniawan, ex Kaden A Ropaminal Kombes Agus Nurpatria Adi and ex Wakaden B Bureaupaminal Divpropam Polri AKBP Arif Rahman Arifin regarding the obstruction case in the Brigadier Yosua’s murder investigation in South Jakarta District Court, Thursday (5/1/2023).
Initially, President Ahmad Suhel asked whether Sambo had also asked Hendra to destroy CCTV showing Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat still alive. Sambo admitted he didn’t order Hendra.
“As for the CCTV that was reported, what did you tell Brother Hendra?” Judge Suhel asked.
“Oh, no video surveillance issues,” Sambo said.
“There is nobody?” Judge Suhel asked.
“No, Your Majesty,” Sambo replied.
“Did you already know?” Judge Suhel asked.
“He doesn’t know,” Sambo replied.
“What did you say?” Judge Suhel asked.
“No, Your Majesty,” Sambo replied.
“Did you ask Hendra to make sure it was destroyed or not?” Judge Suhel asked.
“No, Your Majesty,” Sambo replied.
The judge then asked why Sambo had not told Hendra about the destruction of the CCTV. Sambo admitted that he was worried that Hendra would not obey his orders.
“Why not?” the judge asked.
“Because I was worried that if I told Hendra she would obey or not,” Sambo said.
The judge asked why Sambo thought at the time that only AKBP Arif Rachman would agree to the request to destroy the CCTV. Sambo admitted that he believed Arif would have agreed because his position was still the youngest among Hendra et al.
“But if you go to Arif, do you have to obey?” the judge asked.
“He should have obeyed His Majesty because he was the youngest at the time,” Sambo said.
