The U.S. Department of Labor released its latest jobless claims data on Thursday 5. Last week, the adjusted number of initial jobless claims reported 204,000, which was lower than market expectations by 225,000 and a drop of 19,000 compared to the previous revised value of 223,000 People, the data show that the job market is still hot, could prompt the Federal Reserve (Fed) to continue raising interest rates to cool the job market.
As of Dec. 31 of last year, the adjusted number of initial jobless claims in the United States reported 204,000, lower than market expectations, a drop of 19,000 from last week’s revised 223,000 and a 4-week moving average of 213,700 people.
As of the week of December 24 of last year, the adjusted number of Americans continuing to receive unemployment benefits was reported at 1.694 million, a drop of 24,000 from last week’s revised 1.718 million and below market expectations of 1.708 million, the 4-week moving average 1.6875 million people reported.
