The fifth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine did not reach even 2 percent of Cochabambinos
The head of epidemiology of the departmental health service (headquarters), Rubén Castillo, has asked the population to be immunized to avoid complications in the sixth wave.
The dose has already been applied since last week in all health facilities authorized to apply organic.
The people eligible to receive the booster are all those who were vaccinated six months ago with the fourth dose. Also, those with underlying diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and others; adults over the age of 60; pregnant women and health personnel, said the specialist.
According to data on vaccination coverage against Covid-19, 74 percent of the population in Cochabamba was immunized with the first dose; with the second, 63 percent; with the third, 27 per cent, and with the fourth, 9 per cent.
“Not everyone has completed the vaccination and even more when we are in the sixth wave. Even if the death rate has decreased, it is because the vaccine has had its positive effect, but there may be complications if the doses are not completed, ”she remarked.
To receive the booster dose, citizens will only have to bring a photocopy of their identity card and the vaccination card from the previous dose.
