Dr. Hossam Mowafi, professor of critical cases at Kasr Al-Ainy College of Medicine, explained that climbing and descending stairs cannot be considered exercise, stressing that they have negative effects on the health of the body.

Mowafi said during his host of the “Bab Al-Khalq” program, presented by journalist Mahmoud Saad, that the harms of going down and up the ladder become more dangerous for some groups.

The critical care professor added that going down the stairs puts great pressure on the joints of the elderly, especially if they have roughness, indicating that it destroys the knee.

And he stressed that climbing stairs becomes dangerous for heart health, especially if the owner is 50 years old or suffers from it, invoking the need to use the electric lift in this case as well.
