Presentation of the conference

The lines are shifting in the Middle East, suggesting major geopolitical shifts in 2023: Will the war in Ukraine continue to impact the region, and if so how? Can Russia improve its position in the Middle East? Will Turkish President Erdogan remain in power in Turkey in a year marked by crucial deadlines? Will the Gulf petromonarchies abandon the United States and turn more to China? Are we witnessing a new revolution in Iran? Will the Iranian clerical power, aware that it gambles for its own survival, be able to cross the nuclear threshold? What are the risks of a confrontation between Israel and Iran? Will Benjamin Netanyahu’s new ultra-religious government be able to survive or does it risk triggering a new Intifada that weakens Israel? Is the war in Syria hopeless? Can Iraq relapse into a new civil war? Will Jordan and Egypt remain stable?
