Thiruvananthapuram > Health Minister Veena George said the food safety department today inspected 547 establishments across the state. Operations of 48 establishments were suspended, including 18 unsanitary and 30 unlicensed. Notices were issued to 142 institutions. Vigorous testing will continue.
The Department of Food Safety is doing a great job of ensuring food safety in the state. Operation Shawarma, Operation Matsya, Operation Jaggery, Operation Oil, Operation Holiday etc. They were designed and implemented as part of the Good Food Nation’s Right campaign. Shawarma guidelines released. Through various operations, 46,928 tests were conducted statewide from last July to December. Notices have been issued to 9,248 institutions. A fine of Rs 97.60 lakh was imposed. As part of the judicial process, 149 institutions were closed. Thanks to continued intervention by the Department of Food Safety, 82,406 establishments have been registered and 18,037 establishments have been licensed in the past six months.
