Peter van der Voort on the flu virus: ‘No reason to panic, but to be alert’

“We now have covid, the flu and the RS virus, plus a host of other viruses,” Van der Voort says. “And the flu has been known to cause pneumonia. Whether this happens more often than in previous years can only be seen in retrospect, but we are currently seeing many people in hospitals with bacterial pneumonia. And we have to be there in time.”
