Dengue cases in 2022 increase compared to 2021

Kendari – Kendari City Health Office (Dinkes) released data on dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases for all of 2022, which recorded an increase of 19 cases compared to 2021.

Confirmed cases of DHF in 2021 were 211 cases, while in 2022 they increased to 230 cases. This figure has increased, although not too significantly.

The head of Kendari City Health Service’s (Dinkes) P2P division, Ellfi said, data was collected up to December 2022, in which of the total positive cases, 6 people were reported dead.

“Compared to last year, the number of deaths in 2020 was 6 cases, then in 2021 there were 4 cases and 2022 is the same as 2020, i.e. also 6 cases,” he said (01/03/2022) .

The case of death, according to Ellfi, was due to delays in treatment and service at the next health facility or referral health facility. This can be anticipated if the patient first understands the condition she is experiencing, so that treatment can be given immediately.

“Actually, if a patient has been diagnosed with DHF, he should have been treated in the hospital to be treated immediately, so that the hope for health is higher,” he explained.

Throughout 2022, the majority of deaths occurred in the working area of Wuawua District Health Center with 2 of 20 deaths and 2 of 56 deaths at Puuwatu Health Center, detailing 1 case at the Jati Raya Health Center and 1 case at the Kemaraya Health Center. Meanwhile, those who are case-free are in the working areas of Benubenua, Abeli and Nambo health centres.

Ellfi appealed to the public to continue to improve clean and healthy living behavior, if there are symptoms of fever for more than 3 days at home, you should immediately get checked so that there is no indication of DHF.

“Come on, let’s eradicate the DHF, starting from our own domestic environment, regularly monitoring the larvae both inside and outside the house, doing 3M plus and if there are people who have a fever, we invite them to go to the nearest health service, being is the puskesmas or the hospital, he concluded.
