Merpati Airlines goes bankrupt, employees get IDR 54 billion severance pay

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (PPA) communicated on the distribution of the first phase of the proceeds of the sale of the assets of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero). This was established by the Surabaya District Court jury.

The First Phase Distribution of Bankruptcy Assets is a phase of the winding-up process of Merpati Airlines which was declared bankrupt by the Commercial Court Panel of Judges at Surabaya District Court with decision number: 5/Pdt.Sus-Peace Annulments /2022/PN.Niaga.Sby. Jo. Number: 4/Pdt.Sus-PKPU/2018/PN.Niaga.Sby. June 2, 2022.

PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (PPA) Chief Executive Yadi Jaya Ruchandi said the court-determined phase one distribution list was an important milestone in the dissolution of Merpati Airlines.

“This division should provide certainty on the resolution of Merpati Airlines’ obligations to creditors, prioritizing the principle of justice for all parties, including former employees,” it said in a written statement on Monday (2/1).

After the announcement, all creditors registered and verified on the first phase distribution list will receive the distribution as determined by the court.

As for the distribution list for the first phase, 1,225 former employees of Merpati Airlines received a distribution of IDR 54.8 billion.

Furthermore, the court also determined the distribution of salaries owed to 50 former employees of Merpati Airlines in the amount of IDR 3.8 billion.

“Furthermore, the curation team will continue efforts to sell the assets of Merpati Airlines, the proceeds of which will be distributed to creditors,” he concluded.
