- NFL: Damar Hamlin still in mortal danger
- NFL stars and teams have their say
- Receive good wishes and prayers for Hamlin
Monday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals was abruptly and chillingly called off midway through the first quarter when Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on an onfield tackle. Hamlin was revived in the field and eventually taken by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was treated in “critical condition”.
After initially saying the match would go ahead, the on-field umpires announced that the match would be “temporarily suspended”. After more than an hour of waiting, the league finally announced the postponement of the game.
Damar Hamlin: NFL stars pray for account safety
“Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available,” the NFL said in a statement. “The NFL is in constant communication with the NFL Players Association, who are in agreement with the postponement of the game.”
As the traumatic scene unfolded, people from all over the football world showed their support for Hamlin and his family. Read some of the posts below.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and ARD presenter Esther Sedlaczek harmonize so well at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar that the football expert lets himself be carried away with a surprising offer. Sedlaczek missed a field goal to “Schweini”.
