The “Ministry of Foreign Affairs” condemns the assault on the Al-Aqsa mosque: a serious violation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates released the following statement:

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs condemns the Israeli Minister of Internal Security on Tuesday morning, January 3, 2023, for the assault on the Al-Aqsa mosque, accompanied by the Israeli occupation forces.

The Ministry believes that this grave violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entire Temple Mount by a minister of the new Israeli government points in the direction of the extremist policies that the Israeli government has begun to practice towards the Palestinian people and of his rights and holiness. These policies are also evident in the repeated attacks against Palestinians, the assault on fields and houses and the destruction of property, especially by changing the characteristics and reality of the city of Jerusalem.

The ministry also sees these practices as a clear statement by the Netanyahu government of its aggressive policy and practical rejection of peace efforts aimed at reaching a two-state solution. The ministry also calls on the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities, do what is necessary to curb the dangerous deterioration, discourage the Israeli government and force it to comply with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
