One of Prince Harry’s main statements in the latest interview is the effort to reconcile with the royal family. “I’d like my father and brother back,” he says bluntly. But at the same time he adds that he wants a family, and not the institution that, according to him, is the royal family at the moment.
The royal family continues to adhere to a policy of not commenting on these matters, but sources close to the royal family say its members are already “significantly exhausted” by the amount of misinformation circulating about Harry and Meghan. As a result, none of the family commented even on the first samples of the interview.
The royal silence rule is one of the other attributes that Harry dislikes about his family. He believes that when the family refused to release a comment six years ago that would have protected him and his wife from fake news, it was a betrayal.

“The family motto is to never complain about anything and never comment on anything,” said Harry, noting that it happened anyway because the palace was feeding information to the press. “Then they will write an article about it and add that they approached the palace for comment. But the commentary is actually the article,” Harry explains.
People close to the royal family don’t quite understand Harry’s approach. “Harry knows very well how highly unlikely it is that the royal family will engage in a war of words,” an insider told The Mirror.
It doesn’t feel like a reconciliation
Royal family expert Richard Fitzwilliams elaborates further: “Harry may want his father and brother back, but that’s certainly not the way to go.”
According to him, it is precisely the statements of Harry and Meghan that undermine relations with the family, adding: ‘If they want to have a relationship with the family, then silence is what makes sense. When will Harry and Meghan understand this?’
The interview also asked why Harry didn’t try to resolve family disputes in private but brought them out into the open. “Every time I tried to do that, there was a leak of messages planted at my wife and I,” he puts on a pretty heavy gauge, which likely won’t help him reconcile with his family.
And her autobiography, which comes out Jan. 10, will most likely make things worse. A source among people already familiar with its contents says that the book portrays King Charles III surprisingly well. But Prince William and his wife Kate are reportedly facing a lot of fire. “I personally don’t see the possibility of Harry and William reconciling after this,” concludes the anonymous source.
