Pertalite price remains Rp. 10,000, even though Pertamax dropped to Rp. 12,800

Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia

Government and PT Pertamina (Persero) decided not to lower the price perthalite from the current position of IDR 10 thousand per liter though world oil prices it fell as low as $79 a barrel.

Indeed, as of Tuesday (3/1) at 14.00 WIB, they have lowered the price of Pertamax from IDR 13,900 to IDR 12,800 per litre.

“Especially for diesel and perthalite, the price is fixed. Why? Because this is subsidized by the government and the subsidies are huge,” Pertamina chief manager Nicke Widyawati said at Pertamina MT Haryono gas station, South Jakarta on Tuesday (3/ 1).

He gave an example of Diesel, which Pertamina currently sells at IDR 6,800 per litre. Even if other competing petrol stations sell diesel for twice the price. Nicke said Pertamina only sells Solar for half the market price.

Meanwhile, Pertalite is sold by competitors for IDR 12,000 to IDR 13,000 per litre. In fact, Pertamina only sells IDR 10,000 per litre

“This means the state subsidies are very large,” Nicke said.

Meanwhile, Pertamax will drop from IDR 13,900 per liter to IDR 12,800. The price reduction is effective from Tuesday (3/1) at 14.00.

“Later, God willing, the price of Pertamax will be IDR 12,800,” BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said on the same occasion.

He added that the Pertamax price cut was made after the world price of oil, which rose above $100 a barrel during the Russia-Ukraine war, now fell to $79 a barrel.
